Amazon’s live action Tomb Raider TV show finally seems to be going ahead after a few false starts, with Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner in the lead role. Now, reports suggest sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver is up for a role in the TV adaptation.
Deadline reports that Weaver is circling a role in the upcoming Tomb Raider TV show, though a deal has not yet been closed. It’s unknown what role she would play if cast.

Sigourney Weaver has played a part in a number of iconic film franchises, from her breakout role in the Alien series to her more recent appearances in James Cameron’s Avatar films–with the latest, Avatar: Fire And Ash, releasing in cinemas on December 19. Weaver is also set to appear in next year’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider series is being produced by Story Kitchen–who are also behind Netflix’s Tomb Raider animated series and a number of other video game adaptations–in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics, which is also executive producing the series. The show will be helmed by Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is onboard as writer and executive producer.
Alongside Sophie Turner, British actor Martin Bobb-Semple is also reportedly attached to the project as a series regular, though it hasn’t been reported what role Bobb-Semple might be playing.
Tomb Raider fans can also expect some news out of The Game Awards, which is set to take place this Thursday, December 11. Geoff Keighley teased that a Tomb Raider-related announcement would take place at the awards show offering “a look at the future of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises.”
